In 2010 Ray White Stonefields business owner Hayden Broadbelt developed what was then the first agency in the Stonefields area on Lunn Avenue. Signing another franchise term with Ray White has been a highlight as have many other successes that our team has achieved to me personally it demonstrates the connection of dual trust between the Ray White leadership team and our Ray White Stonefields team for an even greater commitment over the next period.

Carey Smith, Ray White New Zealand Chief Executive, said that the Ray White Stonefields business was the first mover in the area and over the past five years has successfully adapted to the growth of the Stonefields community which has rapidly evolved with substantial infrastructure and change. Hayden Broadbelt, the owner of Ray White Stonefields, is recognised in his own right as a leader in the area of auctioneering. Carey says Hayden has proven his business to be an ongoing success through the attraction of a great team and offering a full range of services. The agency expanded during 2014 and this has been a further sign of the level of commitment that Hayden has provided to his business to ensure it continues to be well positioned for growth.

Following this announcement, we asked Hayden Broadbelt, Business Owner of Ray White Stonefields a few questions about his business and career in real estate, here’s what Hayden said:

When did you enter the real estate industry? 2005

When did you join Ray White? 2008

When did your office join Ray White? 2010

During those years what have been the major changes you have seen in Ray White NZ? The comprehension and understanding from Mark McLeod that the money lives in the relationship and not in the transaction. Game changer!!

How has your business changed over that time? Since 2010 I’ve been able to build capacity into my business through better technology, systems and process as well as leasing more room for a growing team. Recruitment and building a team that respect my business values as well as sharing my business direction has seen us go from strength to strength.

What is the Ray White Group greatest strength or point of difference? Our Leadership teams both here in New Zealand and in Australia keep us on point and make sure we are nimble. We have the ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and the foresight to develop systems through technology that ensures our salespeople have access to market leading material that levels the earning peaks and troughs.  

What do you enjoy/value most about Ray White? I have been very fortunate and have taken the lead when required in Ray White. Because of this, I have built up many life long friendships. The ability for all of us to share ideas and stories has been a standout for me. I wouldn’t be the business leader today if it wasn’t for my Ray White business friends helping.

What has been your proudest business moment owning your Ray White office? I remember receiving a call from a leading figure from another real estate brand upon word getting out that I had signed a franchise agreement with Ray White. That person’s comments were that I was making a terrible mistake and I would regret the decision I made. His comments have been a major driver in the success of my business. I was so determined to prove him wrong and the fact that I have fills me with great pride in my achievements. Signing on for another franchise term is a highlight amongst many;  it’s a clear demonstration of the duel trust between franchisor and franchisee and the commitment between both parties.

What is a typical sale for your office i.e. type of property? Residential and Section sales

Do you have property management? Yes.

If you have property management, how important is this to your business? Upon my entry into business ownership, I was advised by several leading Ray White business owners that I should set up property management with haste. There couldn’t be a better piece of advice provided. My rent roll has provided the backbone to this business. It’s the one certainty amongst so many, uncertainties in business. If you’re a business that hasn’t started property management, take my advice… start today!
