Ray White Burnside’s Charity Auction
Pip Nielsen Realty, Ray White Burnside has always had an association in support of the Cholmondeley Children’s Home in Governors Bay Christchurch, however recently that support was taken to a new level with the arranging of a highly successful charity auction.
The auction was held on a Friday evening at the Russley Golf Club and was attended by in excess of 90 bidders all competing for some exciting items. All of the staff approached clients and business contacts who generously donated a wide selection of items to be auctioned or raffled. Auctioneer Craig Prier was kept on his toes taking bids for such items as hot laps in a Porsche, a pamper package in Christchurch for a day with luxury accommodation an added bonus for the evening, and a thrills weekend including accommodation in Hanmer. Other highly prized items included golf packages, original art, an Apple iPod and some great wine. The event proved to be a great team building exercise and an opportunity to meet with past and potential clients. The staff were thrilled to raise in excess of $8,000 which we are sure will be put to good use helping children and parents in Canterbury through Cholmondeley.
2.2 Million Dollar Man – Simon Siddells
Auctions are the key for Simon Siddells from our Redcliffs office. In one week Simon Siddells marketed
and sold three properties by auction to a total value of just on $2.2m. All three auctions were held on-site and all had multiple bidders even though all three properties had a completely different target market. This success came directly as a result of some excellent marketing programs as well as Simon providing full reports and market feedback through MyDesktop. These reports were invaluable in providing direct buyer feedback and ensuring the vendors were in a realistic position on auction day. Simon also did a fantastic job in gathering his buyers. The final sale price on two of the auctions was well above the owners initial expectations, whilst the third achieved a satisfactory price for the vendors. This is a great example on how important it is to follow all the steps in order to get the right result.
South Island Agent Embraces Auction

Brent Sterm sold his first auction at 10 Martin Ave in Wakefield last Sunday. The street was clustered with cars, balloons were hanging from every letter box, and the profile for Grant Chaney and Ray White was huge. Prior to the main event a pamper package to Hanmer Springs Heritage Hotel and Hot Springs was auctioned with all proceeds going to the local primary school. Over 80 people attended the Auction for Brent Sturm’s first call as Auctioneer (Richmond Office Principle). Competition and bidding for the property was intense and it sold under the hammer. The Richmond, Stoke and Mapua offices have embraced the Auction culture and are currently running a Spring Auction Campaign for in-room Auctions on the 10th of September. Over the past 4 weeks the group have experienced fantastic results with their Auctions, with many property’s selling under the hammer. In fact, Mapua held 14 Auctions in one night. Last month the Top of the South recorded a 108% increase in sales turnover, owners Brent Sturm, Christine Cook and Mike Harvey attribute this to their Auction marketing.

Moerewa Northland Auction

Northland Auction
Ray White Northern Offices had a heartwarming Auction recently, where the Public Trust instructed the Paihia/Kerikeri offices to conduct an auction of a deceased estate 3 bedroom house in Moerewa. Joe Hoey of the Paihia office conducted a number of open homes, where good attendances indicated a range of potential purchasers. The reserve was duly set and auctioneer Mark Saxton of Ray White Kaitaia called for opening bids.
When the bidding stalled the highest bidder called for the attention of the auctioneer and stated “This is not the price I want to pay for this property, out of respect to the Whanau of the deceased previous owner I would like to pay more”. The auctioneer asked him what price he would be prepared to pay, the bidder then offered a higher figure which reached the reserve and the property was knocked down to the rounded applause by all those in attendance.
