Canterbury and West Coast Celebrate Awards

The Ray White Canterbury and West Coast Quarterly Awards were recently held at the Clearwater Resort in Christchurch.

The overall supreme salesperson for the quarter was Sid Charoenpornsavat from the Ray White Northwood office and Sid was also recognised as the top business growth salesperson for the quarter. The top office for sales turnover was Ray White Metro, with Ray White Greymouth being recognised as the top office for business growth.

The following ad appeared in the Christchurch Press and was in part to thank all of our partners, including the Christchurch Press, Property Press, Trade Me, realestate.co.nz and signage companies, who have assisted with the ongoing growth of our business through the region. It has been a difficult time during the past 12 months throughout the Christchurch market and our business owners have responded by ensuring the sales team and property managers are able to continue to operate with the best resources within the marketplace.

The Ray White Group has 160 sales people in the Canterbury and West Coast regions and we would like to acknowledge their continuing efforts in assisting sellers and buyers within the market.

July Sales Results See Small Increase

The July 2011 results for the Ray White Group reflected an increase in trading over the similar period last year; however was slightly down on the results from last month. The Group’s controlled listings were down almost 25% which is reflective of the shorter days on market and prices holding throughout the majority of New Zealand.

The top office for the month was Ray White Auckland Central Commercial, completing sales in excess of $16 million. The Ray White Remuera office was number two. Ray White Metro in Christchurch completed sales of $8.5 million, while Ray White Ponsonby and Ray White City Apartments also had a strong month with sales over $8 million.

Carey Smith, Chief Executive of Ray White said that the results reflected the lack of new listings which are being presented to the market. “When you look closer at the numbers, Auckland continues to show increases on last year’s turnover however there are far less properties being listed for sale. This will inevitably put pressure on prices and will also provide more buyer competition for each property actively marketed.  Also of interest is the Canterbury market where sales were at the same level as the same time last year. There are a lot less properties coming to the market in this area but the take up of stock and the reduction in the total properties available has been considerable.  Across New Zealand our results were similar to that of 2010 and while listing stock remains the driver to many key indicators, there are certainly a good number of properties turning over in the current market. The other variables that we see going forward include the upcoming interest rate announcement in September and the activity that will result from the Rugby World Cup.”

The Ray White Group has offices across the country and lists on average 21,000 properties per annum. The Group is also the leading facilitator of property management in New Zealand with 14,600 properties managed for landlords.

Ray White New Zealand celebrated their 2010 annual awards last night at the SkyCity Grand Hotel, with just over 550 company members joining dignitaries and suppliers to celebrate our national award winners.

The evening opened with those in attendance observing one minute’s silence in remembrance of the victims of the Christchurch earthquake and the Pike River miners.

The Chairman of the Ray White Group, Brian White then spoke which covered the impact on the community and our members of recent tragedies in New Zealand and Australia. He spoke of how the company came together as a family and showed a spirit within our group that had never been seen before and the way in which our Canterbury members had offered support to our Queensland members’ only weeks prior to the 22nd February earthquake in Christchurch.  He talked about the commitment of our company, the growth in market share and how the property business continues to evolve and understanding the question of ‘Where To’ being an obsession within the company leadership.

Paul White, head of Ray White Rural, then spoke of the increasing presence the Ray White Group has across the rural sector in both New Zealand and Australia; saying that Ray White is recognised as the leading rural property sales business and how, in more recent times, the area of livestock sales has played a role in the overall rural business.

Another highlight of the awards is the CEO Cup which is presented by New Zealand Chief Executive Carey Smith.  This year Phil Horrobin of Ray White City Apartments received the CEO Cup award. In recognising Phil Horrobin, Carey Smith said that since he has known Phil as a company member over the last eight years, he has been involved in the city market and has grown a business from a new office to now being the recognised leader in city apartment sales.  The office sells one in four apartments and has recently merged its sales division to add Roebucks Realty and an additional location in the Britomart.  Carey went on to say that Phil Horrobin’s best years are still in front of him, but he had made such an impact on the company that he richly deserved the CEO Cup award.
