Ray White NZ Celebrate Award Winners

Ray White New Zealand celebrated their 2010 annual awards last night at the SkyCity Grand Hotel, with just over 550 company members joining dignitaries and suppliers to celebrate our national award winners.

The evening opened with those in attendance observing one minute’s silence in remembrance of the victims of the Christchurch earthquake and the Pike River miners.

The Chairman of the Ray White Group, Brian White then spoke which covered the impact on the community and our members of recent tragedies in New Zealand and Australia. He spoke of how the company came together as a family and showed a spirit within our group that had never been seen before and the way in which our Canterbury members had offered support to our Queensland members’ only weeks prior to the 22nd February earthquake in Christchurch.  He talked about the commitment of our company, the growth in market share and how the property business continues to evolve and understanding the question of ‘Where To’ being an obsession within the company leadership.

Paul White, head of Ray White Rural, then spoke of the increasing presence the Ray White Group has across the rural sector in both New Zealand and Australia; saying that Ray White is recognised as the leading rural property sales business and how, in more recent times, the area of livestock sales has played a role in the overall rural business.

The awards cover administration, property management and residential property sales.  Members from throughout the Group from Kaitaia to Invercargill were represented.  There are 15 categories in which awards are recognised; with the major category being the Salesperson of the Year, which was awarded to Lesley Hawes and Ruth Hawes from the Kingsland office, who were individually equal first.

Another highlight of the awards is the CEO Cup which is presented by New Zealand Chief Executive Carey Smith.  This year Phil Horrobin of Ray White City Apartments received the CEO Cup award. In recognising Phil Horrobin, Carey Smith said that since he has known Phil as a company member over the last eight years, he has been involved in the city market and has grown a business from a new office to now being the recognised leader in city apartment sales.  The office sells one in four apartments and has recently merged its sales division to add Roebucks Realty and an additional location in the Britomart.  Carey went on to say that Phil Horrobin’s best years are still in front of him, but he had made such an impact on the company that he richly deserved the CEO Cup award.

The office continues to be one of the top three businesses in Ray White New Zealand.

After taking ownership in 1996, Bryce Earwaker, who was a significant salesperson with another brand, took what was then the United Realty office from number 72 in the network to number 12 in its first full year of trading.  This was the fastest growth that any office had achieved in our network. In late 1997 Simon Damerell joined Bryce Earwaker to form a partnership that is now recognised as one of the leading real estate offices in Auckland.  Consistently being awarded as the top market share, the top marketing and one of the top turnover offices in the Group, the office has an enviable position as the market leader.

The office market share is in excess of 35% in Herne Bay, St Marys Bay, Freemans Bay and Ponsonby. The office also holds in excess of a 20% market share in Grey Lynn and Westmere.

The culture of the office is set on a platform of marketing and service. Each year the business has grown on this ethos and now has a return client rate of over 70%.

Simon Damerell, the co-owner of the office, talked about their plans for 2011.  He said the office is strengthening its management structure with a blend of youth and knowledge. Providing resources to the team and to the marketplace is the point of difference for the office.  He went on to say “The office has always had top sales consultants and property managers and ensuring the environment is the best in the marketplace enables the team to achieve outstanding outcomes for their clients.”

The Ray White Ponsonby office is now in its 15th year of trading with the current owners.  The office embraces online marketing through its website www.rwponsonby.co.nz and also interacts through social media on Facebook and Twitter.

The office is located at 239 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby.

Marketing Success

Ray White City Apartments are considered the leaders in apartment selling through the Auckland CBD area.  As part of their sales strategy they have a high success with auction marketing and this is shown in their recent clearance figures, which have been in excess of 70% during the past quarter.

Damien Piggin and Daniel Horrobin, who work together as a partnership, have shown how the combination of marketing and auctions come together in subdued market conditions to give vendors, in most cases, a better than expected sales result.

Co-business owner Phil Horrobin said “The concept of marketing auctions does require a balance of print media and online marketing and this in many cases requires the vendors to consider a programme which will allow their property to be seen across a broad audience. The City apartment market is consistently active with buyers; however given the amount of stock that is available we request vendors consider taking their property to the next level of marketing with our company, who have a proven success rate with auction marketing.”  He went on to say “This is proven with two of their Elite salespeople Damien Piggin and Daniel Horrobin, who work in a very successful partnership, and have consistently shown the value of marketing through their high success rates.”

Ray White City Apartments have the highest level of marketing each weekend in the New Zealand Herald and also dominate the Trade Me feature market to ensure vendors not only get the best value from their marketing but also have a broad range offering in the online and print media areas.

Papamoa Office Enjoys Continued Success

Greg Purcell, business owner of Ray White Papamoa, was recently awarded with the number one business for sales turnover in the Central North Island.  The Ray White Papamoa office is also a leader in market share, completing 31% of the sales in the region during the past quarter.

In accepting the award Greg said that his team are the ones to be congratulated. “They continually work hard to provide a high level of service to sellers and buyers and this builds strong relationships which end up in successful sales.”  He went on to say that the Papamoa area is a highly desirable place to live. Many of the buyers are coming from Auckland and Wellington looking for a quieter lifestyle but in an area where there is a good level of services.  The Ray White Papamoa office has recently increased its team to now be the largest in the area.  NZ Business Performance Manager, Corinna Mansell, said “It has been rewarding to watch the continued growth of Ray White Papamoa and the results that the office has achieved.”

The Mt Maunganui/Papamoa area last month recorded 59 sales at an average sale price of $400,000.  This is down slightly from last year when the average sale price was $422,000.  If you wish to receive a market review of the Papamoa area please contact Ray White Papamoa at email papamoa.nz@raywhite.com.

Canterbury Quarterly Awards

Kyle Pitman congratulates Ricky Cave

The first Quarterly Awards celebrations since the September 4 earthquake were held this week in Christchurch.

A distinctly different atmosphere from what one would have expected was experienced by all in attendance, and it was a night of celebration and a comfortable collectiveness was felt by all.

Pictured is Ricky Cave, a young man very new to our company. He has excelled early in his new chosen career. Ricky has bought a huge amount of energy into the Canterbury zone and has completely focused on auctions from the start, which has been paramount to his incredible success. The energy in Canterbury is so positive and it is a credit to our business leaders and teams.

Our top sales person for the quarter July – September was accredited to Sarah Booth and Brendan Shefford (Big Red). and the top office for the quarter was Northwood.

A special mention must be made for our Lincoln office, they have defied the odds with the happenings in this region. Lincoln reported a personal best month of just over six million, an amazing result!
