The Ray White Group is proud to welcome their 144th office, Ray White Takapuna, located on Hurstmere Road, Takapuna.
Craig Catley, Licensee Agent, has opened a new 400sqm flagship office directly opposite the beach in Takapuna. Together with beaches and boating areas, Takapuna has become one of the most popular suburbs on the North Shore of Auckland.
Takapuna is well known for its diversity of property and has over 300 property sales annually, with an average sale price of $900,000. In more recent times there have been several properties sold over $2 million which include homes on Hauraki Road, Hurstmere Road and Audrey Road together with apartment sales on The Promenade and Dominion Street. Takapuna has also been home to some of the highest priced properties in Auckland, particularly in Rangatira Avenue with sales over the last 12 months showing an average price of $9 million for freehold residences.
In opening the agency in Takapuna, Craig Catley said the office environment was utmost in his planning and that it be a place where salespeople could perform at the highest level and also allow for customers and clients to interact with the agency through seminars, information and research sessions that provide for better decision making for all stakeholders who come into contact with the agency.
Graeme Fraser, Head of Agency Operations for Ray White New Zealand, said the opening of the new Takapuna office is part of the continued increased profile for the Ray White Group on the North Shore. “Takapuna is a high profile flagship location for our group and Craig Catley’s track record in agency leadership is well known through his previous shareholding at Ray White Full Circle. Craig has a very strong work ethic and also understands business process and structure to get the best for his customers and clients.”
On March 14th Ecofest North hit the ground running with Ray White North Shore by its side. As well as financial support, the Ray White North Shore zone got their hands dirty by joining the 40+ volunteers who ran the Ecofest Family Fun Day held on Eskdale Reserve, behind the Kaipatiki Project Environment Centre. Over 1,500 guests and participants came from all over the North Shore to partake in a range of fun environmental activities, aimed at educating and inspiring all to live a happier, greener way of life. A heart-warming video of the day can be viewed by clicking here.
In addition, branches have lent further support by hosting Eco-design seminars in their offices, as well as getting dirt beneath their nails in a community planting day, and supporting a beach clean-up at Long Bay Regional Park. Festival Manager Toni van Tonder says, ‘The Ray White North Shore collective has been hugely supportive from the start. Participation in the 96+ Ecofest events has doubled on last year and this is due to the commitment and energy of Ray White. With their help we’ve become more ambitious, and by kicking the whole thing off with Ray White beside us during the opening day event, this has proven to be a truly successful collaboration.”
Ecofest North is an annual event co-ordinated by the Kaipatiki Project. Further information can be found at kaipatiki.org.nz/ecofest.
Active supporters of the North Shore community, and riding off the success of their recent Bingo night fundraiser which saw the team helping to raise over $6,000 for Beach Haven Primary School, Ray White Beach Haven are looking forward to the schools next fundraising event: the Art, Craft and Kai Fair in early September – and are also getting ready for the next round of their own Barefoot Bowls tournament.
Beach Haven Primary School is a multicultural school that encourages and promotes community involvement. Their belief that children’s education reaches its full potential when parents, communities and schools work together is fully supported by the team at Ray White Beach Haven. – Glenn’s Ray White Beach Haven office were principal sponsors of the school’s recent Bingo night – with a table of 12 team members also competing. “There were a large amount of prizes donated by local business’ and Tim Obern once again generously provided his services as a charity auctioneer… He was in fine form perhaps having more fun with it than he is able to normally.” says Glenn Carpenter of Ray White Beach Haven. “The school raised close to $6,000 and we are looking forward to sponsoring more events to help the school with its fundraising” adds Glenn – a long-standing resident of the North Shore Community – having grown up in the area as a child, and having worked there now since 1996.
Proud members of the Ray White North Shore zone, Ray White Beach Haven are actively involved in the community through their support of various school initiatives (including a Kids Movie Night at the school – where a popcorn machine proved quite a hit with the kids and 150 plus people). The teams next school event, the Beach Haven Primary Art, Craft and Kai Fair, is coming up on Thursday 18 September.
“Community spirit is alive and well here in Beach Haven and you will enjoy the feeling of security and belonging that goes hand in hand with getting to know your neighbours.” says Glenn Carpenter, Principal of Ray White Beach Haven (pictured above). Glenn, who is also a part of the Beach Haven Birkdale Residents’ Association and a Patron of the Beach Haven Bowling Club, also hosts the ‘Ray White Beach Haven Barefoot Bowls’ – an annual event to raise awareness and funds for the bowling club within the ‘Celebrate Beach Haven Month’. Glenn’s latest video “Why we love Beach Haven” which is proudly displayed on the Beach Have office website hightlights the uniqueness of the North Shore and Beach Haven areas, and has been well received in the area.
Sarah Pearce, Growth and Performance Executive for Ray White New Zealand who is working closely with the nine offices on the North Shore says she is “proud of Glenn and his team on the shore who always step up in support of their local community. From their House of Dreams project in support of Beach Haven Plunket – through to their support of the primary school and bowling club, it is inspiring to see business owners such as Glenn not only invest in their local communities but get actively involved… At the end of the day – it is clear to see why Glenn and his team are so passionate about the North Shore area and promoting it!”
John Abbott recently presented to the Ray White sales members on the North Shore a session in regards to achieving outstanding results through auction marketing which was supported by the Property Press. Ray White has over 200 salespeople on the North Shore and sold just over 1,500 properties during the past 12 months.
John Abbott’s presentation was focused on the increased awareness of clients and customers around the auction concept. John focused on the skills that are needed to successfully engage all parties in the auction process and how to educate to support the purchasing and selling endeavours of those who our Ray White members come into contact with.
During the past year the number of properties offered for auction on the North Shore has increased dramatically and the results being achieved have seen record prices in many areas. The growth of the North Shore has seen over 6,000 sales completed in the last 12 months by agency and this has increased from 5,200 in the previous 12 months. More noteable has been the price increases right across the North Shore area.
Richard Mason, zone chairperson for the North Shore, said that the presentation by John Abbott, which was supported by the Property Press, was very timely. “The growth of our group with new offices and new members joining will allow us to further grow our auction and marketing business, particularly with auction becoming more relevant across all trade areas.”
Forrest Hill is considered one of the most established suburbs on the North Shore; with major shopping centres, transport hubs, the motorway and beaches all within easy reach. The new Ray White Forrest Hill office has opened with experienced salespeople Steve Brennan and Winnie Leung, with principal officer and licensed agent Donald Chapman. The office is located on Forrest Hill Road.
Steve Brennan said that as part owner of the new Ray White Forrest Hill office, they plan to create an energetic and motivated sales team that has a focus on achieving outstanding prices and building a high level of service beyond the expectation of all clients.
Winnie Leung, who is part of the ownership team, said that the office will undertake residential sales and also be active in the area of property management. “We will be able to communicate with Asian clients as we have fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin.”

Helene Brownlee, the Principal of Ray White Beach Haven, recently accepted the award as the top growth business on the North Shore for Ray White. The growth award recognises a business that has increased its turnover on the same period in the previous year. The award is a true measure of productivity and performance within the business given that it is measured on the same benchmark as the previous year. The 2009 market was 21% better than the current market of 2010, which makes the award very poignant for these times.
In accepting the award Helene Brownlee recognised the team work within her office. She said that Beach Haven provides a diversified market for buyers and is recognised for its value and proximity to the lower North Shore. She went on to say “That team work is the biggest strength within her business and also the fact that she has been able to combine management with her own personal high level of sales.”
The Beach Haven office currently is number three in the growth award for Ray White New Zealand.
Carey Smith, Ray White Chief Executive said “It is a credit to the Beach Haven team, who have not only been recognised for their growth in 2010, but also the high level of market share the office continues to achieve. It is a clear market leader in the Beach Haven area and the leadership shown by Helene Brownlee reflects the results that the office has achieved in 2010.”
Originally from Barfoot and Thompson, Mariette has been involved in selling real estate for over 5 years now. Her recent success can be attributed to her amazing work ethic and the support she receives from her business owners, Stephen Wong and Glen Carpenter. “We are delighted with her progress and the energy she brings into the office. She is a diligent worker who puts in long hours to achieve her goals and targets” Stephen says.
Mariette’s dominance can be easily seen right across the Shore. Her signs are on display in most commercial areas; this in its self has given Mariette’s business a real surge due to her market profile. With commercial real estate growing steadily on Auckland’s North Shore, Mariette looks forward to her continued growth it what is often perceived as a hard sector of the real estate market.
